Comfy Clothes

30 January 2013
As a child I was not permitted to wear jeans. It was my father's rule and it was law for most of my life. A lot of people find this strange but it was the only thing I knew. My dad preferred my sisters and I to be in dresses and skirts and now as an adult that uniform is what I feel most comfortable in. For the days I lay around the house with my wonderful roommates I will be found wearing my new favorite skirt.

I get by with a little help from my friends

21 January 2013
It's been really cold in Colorado this past week. Not just normal type of Colorado cold but actually cold. I went from sixty degrees in Arizona to three. Luckily,  I have very talented friends. For Christmas, my best friend made me the most beautiful lavender scarf  which pairs well with a headband my other best friend got me for my birthday. It's small gestures from great friends that get me through these winter nights.

Sunday's best

20 January 2013
One of the benefits of having five roommates is that they can scope out sales faster than I can. For instances, one of my roommates went to Charming Charlies were she found the buy one get one free sale. After, coming home with four new dresses another roommate went to get several new tops. Finally, I had to see for myself the deal that the store was having. I came home with a top and this dress that was perfect for church this morning. I adore my roommates and their eye for fashion.

It's also silly Sunday

A few of my favorite things: home edition

13 January 2013
I've spent the past three weeks back in my hometown with family and friends. I've come to appreciate the rest and the time those weeks allowed. I started several projects and now wish I was still home to finish. However, I am now in Colorado getting ready for a new semester. I'm going through the mental process of accepting the fact that classes start tomorrow. I feels like only yesterday I was sleeping till noon.
1. My puppy 2. Best friend breakfast 3. In-n-out 4. Online shopping for Colorado needs. My new hat is wonderful 5. One of my sewing projects 6. Some of the Arizona desert in my Colorado apartment.

Railroad Tracks and Glasses

12 January 2013

Well I got glasses and I've never felt so hipster. It's taking some time getting use to but I'm really liking not wearing contacts all the time. However, my family is putting money on how long I can keep them. I tend to break everything I touch and glasses are no exception. Years back I use to own several pairs of  glasses since I had such a habit of smashing each one. Here's to hoping these longer than a few weeks.

How to sew a headband

10 January 2013
The other night I couldn't sleep so I went to my sewing machine to work out my insomnia with a needle and some thread. During my sleepless night, I made a headband I found from the blog Cotton and Curls . With several episodes of Gossip Girl as my background noise, I got to work. I used fabric I had picked up at Hobby Lobby earlier that day and loved how the final product turned out. However, I missed measured the circumference of my head but it was nothing a little extra fabric couldn't fix. I wish I could sew all my nights or early mornings away.
Excuse my face, it looks tired.

How to make apple crisp

09 January 2013
This week my family hosted a dinner party where they asked me to make apple crisp. It has been years since I've made this dish. However, it was what my family desired since I use to make it all the time in junior high. I've only use gala apples and vanilla bean ice cream to top off the end product. This baking project was simple and quick.

Arizona Lovin'

08 January 2013
I'm heading back to Colorado soon for another semester at school. I've honestly enjoyed being in Arizona the past three weeks. I've enjoyed hikes and warm weather. I've enjoyed old friends and old hang outs. For the first time in a while, I've truly enjoyed Arizona. This break from my life in Denver has energized me for what's ahead. As of right now, I'm looking into my options of more travel soon. This means I won't be going to Arizona this summer. However, I've enjoyed spending casual days in Mesa like this one featured below. There is nothing better than wearing my new sweater from Anthropologie and Arizona charm necklace in one of my favorite places.
Thanks to one of my favorite people for being of the best photographers I know

How to make the perfect chocolate chip cookie

07 January 2013
I set out to make some treats for a neighbor of mine. When I started researching recipes, I came across a site that claimed the formula for the  best chocolate chip cookies. After trying the recipe for the first time, I must say it was some of the best cookies I've ever made. The cookies came out extra soft and the dough was easier to work. I cannot wait to take this recipe back home for future dinner parties. As far as baking is concerned, these are the best chocolate chip cookies.

Iowa Cafe

06 January 2013
One of my favorite parts about being home is discovering new places to eat with old friends. My good friend Nickie came with me when I wanted to go to Iowa Cafe. The cafe was loaded with cheesy decor and old people talking about ducks. I adored everything about it and really loved the french toast. Only in my hometown in Arizona would there be a cafe dedicated to an entirely different state.
