Last month, I embarked on making a dessert that made me nervous. I've always been cautious when it comes to making a new dessert and baking my first cheesecake was no exception. I looked at making the perfect cheesecake to be too difficult to master. However, once my dessert was tasted I had proved myself wrong. I'm not the biggest fan of cheesecake but after I had made this recipe, it was too good for even me to pass up. It is now my go to dessert.

How to sew a headband
10 January 2013
The other night I couldn't sleep so I went to my sewing machine to work out my insomnia with a needle and some thread. During my sleepless night, I made a headband I found from the blog Cotton and Curls . With several episodes of Gossip Girl as my background noise, I got to work. I used fabric I had picked up at Hobby Lobby earlier that day and loved how the final product turned out. However, I missed measured the circumference of my head but it was nothing a little extra fabric couldn't fix. I wish I could sew all my nights or early mornings away.
Excuse my face, it looks tired.

How to make the perfect chocolate chip cookie
07 January 2013
I set out to make some treats for a neighbor of mine. When I started researching recipes, I came across a site that claimed the formula for the best chocolate chip cookies. After trying the recipe for the first time, I must say it was some of the best cookies I've ever made. The cookies came out extra soft and the dough was easier to work. I cannot wait to take this recipe back home for future dinner parties. As far as baking is concerned, these are the best chocolate chip cookies.

How to make best friend mugs
31 December 2012
I love Christmas gift giving because when it comes to presents for friends it's all do it yourself. This year I made painted mugs for my two best friends. It's hard since each of us live in three different states for school. So I thought it would be appropriate to decorate mugs showing how much I miss them. It's really simple. All I used was three white mugs and a black paint pen; sharpie works as well. After I free handed the outline of our individual states, I cooked the mugs in the oven for thirty minutes at 300 degrees. This makes the pen permanent and glassware dishwasher safe. I wouldn't recommend free handing like I did because I really regret how "Denver" turned out on my mug. However, my best friends loved the mugs and I cannot wait to use mine back home.

How To: Pumpkin Pie Pops
27 November 2012
My roommate and I were watching the Today show when Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere did a segment of interesting ways to mix up Thanksgiving traditions. She presented Pumpkin Pie Pops which really caught my interest. It is a easy substitution for cake pops and I knew I had to try it. I used Libby's famous pumpkin pie filling and store bought dough when first trying my pops. They turned out incredible which my roommates were really excited about. I cannot wait to try other types of filling soon.

How to make chocolate cupcakes
01 October 2012
A couple weeks ago was one of my good friend's birthdays. Naturally, I wanted to bake his favorite dessert to celebrate. When he said he loved chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting, I thought I had a simple task ahead of me. Wrong. The boy I was baking for disliked buttecream frosting and I became reminded of how I much I hated working with cake. However, there was a silver lining to this baking adventure. Once I found the perfect recipe for cream cheese frosting, I attempted to make it for the first time. On top of that, I discovered a way to make cake richer by adding more eggs, melted butter, and milk. When the cupcakes cooled off and the the frosting was ready, I realized that they had turned out to be the best cupcakes I've ever made. All's well that ends well when it comes to birthday cupcakes. To add, a tip I've learned, I use an ice cream scooper to guarantee that each mini cake will be perfect in size.
