Flower Power

30 September 2012
The other day I walked into my advisor's office when he bluntly said to me, "you look like a flower, hippy child." Out of all the comments I've ever received, this took me off guard. I know wearing a flower headband didn't make me a hippy but I've come to love the style. I've found to find that floral headbands fix any hair day that I'm too lazy to work with. It's simple and easily goes with any pair of colored pants.

Life Lately: according to Instagram

29 September 2012
Life lately has been calm yet busy. While working for two ministries and going to school full time, sleep is rare. In the midst of the constant going and going, I've found peace in the unexpected. This past weekend, my two best friends came to visit in Colorado where we got to go see one of my favorite bands, The Head and the Heart. I rejoice in the fact that I'm making some of my favorite memories every day.

 1. What my desk looks like while doing ministry. 2. Wednesday girls night: we dance around awkwardly and watch Here Come Honey Boo Boo. 3. The first night my best friends came, we got burgers at our favorite place in downtown Denver. 4. Favorite breakfast place in Denver with the three. 5. My seventh graders and I built a fort. They're pretty cool. 6. The first time I've had the house to myself without my six roommates and what do I do? Eat left over Mexican food and watch the new episode of The Office for the third time. 7. One of my favorite hikes with one of my favorite people. 8. Fall leaves are here. It's beautiful in CO lately.

Disturb us, Lord

27 September 2012

Disturb us, Lord, when
We are too pleased with ourselves,
When our dreams have come true
Because we dreamed too little,
When we arrived safely
Because we sailed too close to the shore.

Disturb us, Lord, when
With the abundance of things we possess
We have lost our thirst
For the waters of life;
Having fallen in love with life,
We have ceased to dream of eternity
And in our efforts to build a new earth,
We have allowed our vision
Of the new Heaven to dim.

Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly,
To venture on wilder seas
Where storms will show Your mastery;
Where losing sight of land,
We shall find the stars.

We ask you to push back
The horizons of our hopes;
And to push back the future
In strength, courage, hope, and love.

This we ask in the name of our Captain,
Who is Jesus Christ.

Soak it up

Currently it's one of my favorite times in Colorado. It's the time between summer and fall, where the weather is awkward and unknown. One day it might rain and another it might be sunny but either way I'm soaking it up. I try to squeeze in any many shorts and dresses before the snow arrives. It's my favorite time of the year.

Running on bliss

18 September 2012
Since I've moved back to Colorado, my life has been overloaded. From class, ministry, and the abundant amount of blessings, I can barely intake it all. With my life running a million miles per hour, I rely on simple patterns and bright colors as a way to express my current state. Also, quick updo's that I've learned from Pinterest has helped add more time in the morning. Looking back on the past couple weeks, I'm truly enjoying this season of my life. This is the happiest I've ever been. Even though, I'm busy I guess I'm just running on bliss.
