Colorado Fashion Week

29 October 2012
At the beginning of the month, I got the incredible opportunity to attend Colorado Fashion Week. Each night was full of Denver's top emerging designers. I was blown away by all the talent that walked down the runway. On night three, my two best friends and I got to see collections from Sam Martucci and Carlos Melendez. Martucci featured her new line Breakeless which is a collection full of edge. Melendez, a new talent on the Denver fashion scene, revealed his line of modern gowns. It was a night to remember. There is no feeling like sitting front row at a runway show as well.
On night four of CFW, my posse of blonde friends joined me at the JW Marriott for another round of runway shows. My favorite designer of the whole week was featured this night. Her collection was breathtaking and I loved getting the opportunity to meet her. Nyndia Diligent has such a beautiful ready to wear line that's full of elegant and modern lace pieces. A big thank you goes out to my friend and fellow fashion blogger Rachel at Denver Dress up for all that she did for CFW and allowing me to come.

Busy Bee

27 October 2012
In the past month I've attended Colorado Fashion Week, traveled to two different states, and turned twenty. I've been very busy and have been seriously lacking in the blog department. There are several posts coming up about my travels, my birthday, and of course my life in Denver. Stay tuned!
The first time I've gotten to relax with friends in three weeks. Praise Jesus.

Life Lately: According to Instagram

10 October 2012
Life lately has been very busy to say the least. I keep telling myself if I make through the month of October it will be a miracle. I started out the month at Colorado Fashion Week while balancing school and hosting events for my ministry. Currently, I'm in California for a convention and the day after I get back I will be heading to Kansas. I will end the month with my best friend from high school for my 20th birthday weekend. Again, if I make I through this month it will be a miracle.
 1. A great moment with some great friends. 2. Driving to the Head and the Heart concert. 3. Colorado Fashion Week night four. 4. CFW night three. 5. Breakfast with my favorite seventh graders. 6. A night out with my roommates. 7. A reminder I found at my ministry. 8. The rare moment I get to retreat and rest at my quiet spot on campus.

Colorado Fashion Week: Outfit 1

Recently, I got the very cool opportunity to attend night 4 and 5 of Colorado Fashion Week. When I found out I was going and got to bring my best friends with me, I couldn't stop jumping up and down. It was a dream come true. However, it was the coldest week in Colorado yet and my new designer skirt was paired with several black leggings. With the add of my black scarf and heels, I was all set. My posts about the shows and events I got to attend are coming soon.

A few of my favorite things

07 October 2012
I've been truly sale shopping lucky lately. On Wednesday night, I went into Anthropology where I found  a Leifsdottir skirt on sale from $188 to $10. The sales clerk even giggled a little when I checked out. On Saturday, I discovered a top that was originally $80 but when I bought it I only paid $10. Sale items is just one of my favorite things.
1. The new quote banner I made for my desk. 2. Colorado postcards I'm sending to Kansas friends. 3. A           50 cent banner I've recently bought. I really love banners 4. The Leifsdottir skirt I got on sale. 5. A small reminder I keep at my desk.

The skirt

06 October 2012
As a full time student, at times it becomes hard to put together outfits. With my mind preoccupied with my public speaking speech and my political science exam, getting ready in the morning is a difficult task. However, every once and a while, an outfit will come along that just makes life easier. Last week this outfit came in the form of a skirt that went perfectly with my new sandals and my favorite orange shirt. This skirt was such a time saver that I actually got to the study in the morning.

The most beautiful time of the year

04 October 2012
Hello Autumn! Fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year. The trees have changed and the colored leaves are everywhere which means I get to pull out my long sleeved dresses. Since it hasn't become too cold yet in Colorado, my jean jacket is a must for days with light wind. Every inch of campus is gorgeous and I can't believe I get to live here.  I once read, Fiery colors begin their yearly conquest of the hills, propelled by the autumn winds. Fall is the artist.

Adventure. The pursuit of life.

02 October 2012
I am beyond blessed to live in Colorado. Beauty is constantly around me and the mountains are breathtaking. Since moving here, I've become fully acclimated to adventure and every weekend brings new stories.  Lately, between various hikes and camping trips, it's hard to take in all that I've seen. Adventure is all around me and I'm in love with the pursuit of life.

1. Sunrise hike 2. Camping in Boulder Lake 3. Jeep ride to Red Rocks 4. Climbed my first 14er 5. Discovered a new hike in Golden

The Arizona dress

01 October 2012
Sometimes I will find a dress that just...fits. This new piece to my collection randomly came into my closet. I was doing some unexpected shopping when I browsed the sale section of Gap. Then suddenly, I found this dress for only ten dollars that fit perfectly. I'm also in love with the pattern because it's reminds me of Arizona. It's my perfect, Arizona dress.

How to make chocolate cupcakes

A couple weeks ago was one of my good friend's birthdays. Naturally, I wanted to bake his favorite dessert to celebrate. When he said he loved chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting, I thought I had a simple task ahead of me. Wrong. The boy I was baking for disliked buttecream frosting and I became reminded of how I much I hated working with cake. However, there was a silver lining to this baking adventure. Once I found the perfect recipe for cream cheese frosting, I attempted to make it for the first time. On top of that, I discovered a way to make cake richer by adding more eggs, melted butter, and milk. When the cupcakes cooled off and the the frosting was ready, I realized that they had turned out to be the best cupcakes I've ever made. All's well that ends well when it comes to birthday cupcakes. To add, a tip I've learned, I use an ice cream scooper to guarantee that each mini cake will be perfect in size.
