Graduation update

At the beginning of the year I set goals for myself before I graduated high school. Now that it's been a week since I left Mountain View, I look back on what I did and didn't do.


1.Give a killer speech at my mom's wedding check. My favorite part of my mom's wedding was when she told me at the very end of the night that my toast made her wedding perfect. Needless to say, that made my night.
2.Graduate with a 3.5+ I got my report card in the mail yesterday and barley missed the mark. I blame senior laziness.
3.Take an awesome senior trip I never got my trip but I am going to Mexico for a week real soon so I guess that counts.
4.Make Dahlya the sickest graduation present I spend four months making her grad present. It was a lot of fun trading gifts. I made her a twenty minute video of the timeline of our friendship. She surprised me with a video reenacting important scenes from our friendship. I never laughed so hard. I love my best friend
5.Give a speech at graduation At least I tried
6.Make my prom dress Alright, story time. I couldn't find a pattern I liked. With that, I randomly bought a dress thinking that would be it. When I tried it on for a friend she noticed it was the same dress she wore to winter formal. That same day we went driving when I saw a hole in the wall dress store. There I found my dream dress and forgot about my goal to make one. However, mine had pockets so it all worked out.
7.Volunteer at a soup kitchen Instead I volunteer at a home for children. I start in two weeks.
8.Find someone to take my spot at Central I've learned over the past couple months that students come and go through student ministry but the impact of their influence never leaves. I know Lindsay Project will only excel in the years to come.
9.Have a yearbook signing party with all my friends Not yet, it's in the works however I got everyone I ever wanted to sign my beautiful book so I'm good.

Even though, it feels as if I didn't achieve any of my goals, I hope that the acting of trying and putting myself out there makes up for my faults and failures.

Senior citizen

One of the traditions of being a senior is taking senior photos and mine are finally in. Even though, I got lost on the way to the shoot, got my first speeding ticket, and was an hour late; it was totally worth it. Susie, my photographer, is a close family friend and she did a fabulous job on my photos. She made the shoot fun and special. Susie even stop a little girl riding by on her bike and asked if we could use it for my pictures. Senior year is fabulous.

How to make blueberry scones

Over the weekend my best friend held a brunch for all of our friends. All week I was very excited; yet, when the morning of the bunch came I completely forgot to make a dish to bring to the event. Quickly, I went the Food Network website and searched for an recipe that would be perfect to make in an hour or less. With luck, I found blueberry scones that only took thirty minutes. At first, I was a little hesitant for the fact that I've never made scones before. However, they turned out super well. On top of that, everyone really seemed to enjoy them at the brunch. You'll never know what happened when you take a little cooking risk

Easter dress

 Holidays are very important by the fact that they have a dress code. Easter represents the cool, spring Sunday morning dresses. This year since it was my last Easter at Central I wanted my dress to be special. The night before Easter service I found finally what I've been looking for. At Forever 21 there were cute maxi dresses on sale for $12; right in my budget! I added a lace, floral belt to help off set all the bright colors from the dress and cardigan. Looking back my Easter style has evolved greatly from bunny outfits to long dresses.

Happy Easter

I was at a brunch a couple days ago when some of the girls said to one another, "Happy Good Friday." That night the question was brought to me, "whats so good about Good Friday?" There's nothing good about it if you weren't to think about the Sunday that followed; Friday was a day of despair. How I look at the Gospels and think how much Satan must have loved this Friday. However, Sunday is God's refusal of Satan's day. The meaning behind Easter, I think I've missed before, is Jesus's suffering. "The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the Devil's work" 1 John 3:8b. Easter's meaning is that the wrath of God was poured on Jesus so it wouldn't be on us. Jesus suffered the most awful death imaginable during that time so there could be a Sunday. During church this past weekend I learned a new detail about the story of Jesus that I've never truly noticed before. When Jesus came back after the resurrection he came to his disciples. Earlier one of this own stated that he wouldn't believe in Jesus if he didn't see the scars from the crucifixion himself. Suddenly, while all the disciples in a locked room Jesus appears. Yeah, that's cool walk through doors, that won't freak out anyone Jesus. Anyway, Jesus calls up Thomas and says, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe." I never noticed that Jesus came back with scars. God didn't come back with his new body but with one that proved his love. When you see the scared Jesus, it makes sense. Lucky for us we have a God that gets it. That leads and loves and understands pain and has scars as well. When I put my scared hands in his; scared from pain and issues in my life, he says me too. Through the Sunday and through His scars there's healing from the Friday and any day that's knocked us down personally. God has a plan for the darkness and the meaning of Easter is that God is in control. "Finally, let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus" Galatians 6:17.

My favorite verse of all time is Isaiah 53:5 "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed."
